Space42 to launch UAE’s 1st sovereign mobility cloud

Dubai - Mubasher: Space42 is developing the UAE’s first Sovereign Mobility Cloud, powered by Core42’s Public Cloud on Microsoft Azure.

The platform will speed up autonomous mobility deployment while keeping data secure and UAE-compliant, according to a press release.

Announced at the Dubai World Congress, the project aims to position Abu Dhabi as a global hub for intelligent, AI-enabled transport.

The cloud provides infrastructure for mobility data, HD mapping, fleet operations, digital twins, and secure government-industry data sharing.

Space42 will lead applications and pilots, while Microsoft and Core42 supply the cloud foundation, AI platforms, and regulatory compliance support.

Furthermore, Microsoft will provide training, technical expertise, and co-investment to help grow the ecosystem.

Fan Zhu, Senior Vice President of Autonomous Mobility at Space42, said: “By building the nation’s first Sovereign Mobility Cloud with Core42 and Microsoft, we are setting a global standard for secure, trusted platforms in mobility and autonomous systems.”

For his part, Sherif Tawfik, chief partnership officer – AI & Cloud for Sovereignty, Microsoft, commented: “In partnership with G42 we have successfully combined world-class data residency, compliance, and confidential compute capabilities with Insight’s sovereign controls platform to ensure mobility and autonomous systems in the UAE are built on a platform that meets the highest standards for security and trust.”

The partnership builds on earlier collaborations, including the July 2025 Map Africa Initiative and Space42’s GIQ platform on Microsoft Azure Marketplace.

Earlier this month, Space42 and Viasat announced plans to form a joint venture to provide direct-to-device services and upgrade mobile satellite services to 5G.
