PIF-led alliance to acquire Electronic Arts for $55bn

Riyadh - Mubasher: A consortium comprised of Public Investment Fund (PIF), Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners entered into an agreement to acquire Electronic Arts at an enterprise value of $55 billion.

The transaction will enable Electronic Arts, a global leader in interactive entertainment, to accelerate innovation and growth to build the future of entertainment, according to a press release.

The alliance has committed capital and global portfolios with networks across gaming, entertainment, and sports. This will provide Electronic Arts with opportunities to integrate physical and digital experiences, enhance fan engagement, and create new growth opportunities.

Subject to customary closing conditions, the transaction is expected to close in the first quarter (Q1) of 2027.

Turqi Alnowaiser, Deputy Governor and Head of International Investments at PIF, said: “PIF is uniquely positioned in the global gaming and esports sectors, building and supporting ecosystems that connect fans, developers, and IP creators.”

“This partnership will help further drive EA’s long-term growth, while fueling innovation within the industry on a global scale,” Alnowaiser added.

Earlier this month, the Saudi fund acquired 179.55 million shares in  MBC Group at a value of SAR 7.46 billion to boost the media and entertainment sectors.
