QSE closes higher Thursday on real estate, banks

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) ended Thursday’s trading session up 0.34% or 35.76 points to the level of 10,427.91 points.

Trading volume declined to 7.014 million shares from 8.18 million shares on Wednesday, while turnover decreased to QAR 259.55 million from QAR 318.78 million.

Five sectors led the increase, headed by the real estate sector which levelled up 0.75% on the back of Barwa Real Estate and Ezdan Holding Group which increased 1.7% and 0.7%, respectively.

Meanwhile, the transportation sector rose 0.70%, led by Qatar Navigation (Milaha) and Qatar Gas Transport Limited (Nakilat) which grew 1.52% and 0.31%, respectively.

The banks sector gained 0.26% backed by 6 stocks as Qatar Oman Investment topped the winners of the day with an increase of 2.4%, followed by Dlala Brokerage and Investment Holding with 1.9%, Doha Bank with 1.6%, and Qatar Islamic Bank with 1.1%.

On the other hand, the industrial and the insurance sectors declined 0.29% and 0.08%, respectively, pressured by Doha Insurance, the top loser of the day, which fell 3.28% and Qatari Investors Group which dropped 1.36%.

As for trading value, Qatar National Bank came on top with a liquidity of QAR 91.96 million, while Vodafone Qatar was the most active stock in terms of traded volume with 2.056 million shares traded.
