Mastercard, iscore team up to advance Egypt’s digital lending system

Cairo - Mubasher: Mastercard has partnered with the Egyptian Credit Bureau (iscore) to study the development of a new credit scoring model aimed at advancing Egypt’s digital lending future and deepening financial inclusion.

The collaboration seeks to empower lenders with faster, smarter, and more inclusive insights, according to a press release.

Leveraging Mastercard’s network and advanced analytics, the new model is designed to help financial institutions make more informed credit decisions, enabling more Egyptians to access previously unavailable financing.

Selin Bahadirli, Executive Vice President, Services, Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa at Mastercard, said: “Together, we are laying the foundations for a resilient, secure, and digitally empowered financial ecosystem that connects more Egyptians to the digital economy.”

Mohamed Korayem, CEO and Managing Director at iscore, commented: “iscore has always been at the forefront of Egypt’s credit innovation journey.”

“Together with Mastercard, we are redefining how creditworthiness is assessed, bringing more Egyptians into the formal financial system and helping lenders manage risk more effectively through the power of behavioral analytics,” the CEO emphasized.

Mohamed Assem, Country Manager for Egypt, Iraq, and Lebanon at Mastercard, stated: “At Mastercard, we believe innovation in financial services should empower everyone: individuals, small businesses, and financial institutions alike.”

The initiative builds on the recent launch of Mastercard Credit Intelligence and represents a first-of-its-kind innovation at a national scale.

By bridging data gaps and providing a holistic view of financial behavior, Mastercard and iscore aim to create a more inclusive, digitized, and sustainable financial future for Egypt.

Earlier this month, Mastercard partnered with STC Bank to offer customers in the Kingdom access to a wide range of cross-border payment services.
