EgyptAir suspends regional flights following US strikes on Iran

Cairo - Mubasher: EgyptAir suspended its flights to 13 cities in the Gulf region until further notice following airspace closure by neighboring countries amid escalating regional tensions.

The halted routes included Kuwait, Dubai, Doha, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Qassim, Dammam, Erbil, Baghdad, Amman, Beirut, and Muscat.

Ahmed Adel, Chairman and CEO of EgyptAir Holding Company, affirmed that they are closely monitoring the situation from the Crisis Room at the Integrated Operations Center (IOCC) to ensure continuous oversight of flight operations.

This decision came after earlier joint US-Israel strikes on Iran, targeting government sites.

Iran responded with drone attacks targeting US military bases in the Gulf region, including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the UAE.

Accordingly, more than 700 flights across the region were cancelled as of 1 March.

On its part, Saudi Telecom Company (stc) offered free calls to all GCC citizens in Saudi Arabia to support stranded GCC nationals hosted in Saudi airports.
